Types of outdoor tents
There are two basic types of outdoor tents, one is a double-layer tent with its own tent poles for easy use, and the other is a lightweight tent that can be set up with trekking poles, including tarp tents and tarp tents. These two kinds of tents are excellent in comfort, ease of use and weight.
1. Double-deck tent
The double-deck tent mainly consists of three parts: (1) an inner tent with waterproof bottom and waterproof top; (2) Waterproof account; (3) Account lever. Most double-deck tents are easy to build, and provide good weatherproof performance, so that you are protected from bad weather and comfortable to use. However, they are often the heaviest. There are three main types of double-deck tents:
(1) Self-supporting tents
Self-supporting tents are the most common tents. When it comes to tents, many people think of what they look like. They can stand on their own feet and achieve the maximum space without extra nails and support points. It is the most traditional kind of outdoor tent. If you want to go out with one or more friends, or in areas with sparse trees, it is a good choice. Some models with durability and high strength can be used in bad weather and winter camping.
(2) Semi-self-supporting tents
Semi-self-supporting tents are also equipped with special tent poles, which can realize self-supporting, but some ground nails and windproof ropes are needed to maximize the tent space. This kind of tents are becoming more and more popular at present, because they not only provide the safety and comfort of double-deck tents, but also have fewer tent poles and lighter weight.
(3) Tunnel tents
Tunnel tent is a semi-self-supporting tent with unique tent pole structure. They have one or more ring-shaped tent poles, which need assistance to stand upright. Compared with other types of tents, tunnel tents have more space and provide higher comfort and strength at the same tent weight.
2. Tarp tent
Tarp tent is a kind of single-layer tent that can be quickly built, which weighs only half of the double-layer tent and can provide complete protection. Some with built-in floor and insect net, some without. Their biggest disadvantage is that the inner wall is easy to accumulate moisture, which means that you may wake up wet in the morning. And the adjustability is very small, because all its components are connected together. Tarp tents can be built with special tent poles, climbing poles or a combination of the two. The Tarp tent is located between the double-deck tent and tarp. Common Tarp tents are A-shaped, pyramid-shaped and double-cone-shaped.
3. Tarp
Tarp is a simple waterproof cloth. It is the lightest shelter with the widest range of application and the least need to worry about internal condensate. Tarp has many shapes, among which square tarp is the most common one. You can use Tarp to build dozens of different shelters.
(1) type a Tarp
A Tarp is one of the simplest and most practical choices. On the premise of light weight, in most cases, it can provide most people with the performance they need. Like some light double-deck tents, the head of type A Tarp is usually wider than the feet. They have two openings. Without other protective measures, this shelter is not suitable for use in heavy rain and strong wind. However, its openness brings more possibilities. You can use it in different terrains, such as a dining table. You can use it to build a porch for other tents. When the weather is fine, you can use it as a ground cloth. A Tarp can be built with climbing poles and paddles, or you can buy special tent poles. Tarp made of crude benzene fiber is the most suitable lightweight material for building A-type Tarp.
(2) pyramid Tarp
Pyramid Tarp, also known as cone tarp. It has strong weatherproof performance. They are built together with one or two poles (climbing poles, paddles or special tent poles), surrounded by the center, and the inclined tent wall can effectively prevent wind and rain, which is the first choice for outdoor activities in harsh environment. Because of its inclined structure, it is also easier to condense water. But compared with Type A tarp, its privacy and weather resistance are better. You can buy additional accessories to make it more versatile.
